Malaria in a Changing World: Past Lessons, Present Challenges, and Future Solutions
Richard A. and Susan F. Smith Campus Center
1350 Massachusetts Ave
Cambridge
Fri., May 15, 2026, 1 – 6 p.m.
Malaria is one of the oldest human diseases, having sculpted human biological evolution and history in many regions. Yet it remains a heavy burden on global public health in today’s changing world, where migration, climate change, and shifting mosquito vectors are influencing the global stage for this disease. New insights and innovative control methods, however, may help turn the tide against the scourge of malaria.
The program will feature expert talks, panel discussions, and Q&A sessions with leading researchers, including special guest Dr. Fitsum Tadesse from the Armauer Hansen Research Institute in Ethiopia, who will share insights on the challenges facing malaria control in the Horn of Africa.
A reception will follow the symposium, where attendees will also have the opportunity to view Harvard student research posters on malaria.
